Pot à tabac en bois sculpté Forêt noire / Black Forest représentant une tête de chien, en haut-col et nœud papillon, coiffé d’un Fez et fumant le cigare, d'époque fin XIXème siècle. 
 
Très finement sculpté, la charnière est en parfait état de fonctionnement, la patine claire est splendide et lumineuse et les yeux en sulfure lui donne une personnalité et une présence indéniables.
 
Typique des productions dites « de la forêt noire », ce savoir-faire artisanal est en fait Suisse et existe depuis le 18ème siècle.
 
Cet artisanat de grande qualité trouve son essor avec le développement du tourisme à l’ère Victorienne, les villages de Brienz, Interlaken et Luzern abritaient les sculpteurs les plus célèbres.
 
On retrouve un exemplaire, très proche, de celui que nous vous proposons à la page 72 de l’ouvrage de référence « Swiss carving, the art of the Black Forest 1820-1940 ».

Wood tobacco box carved Black Forest/ Black Forest representing a dog’s head, high-collar and bow tie, wearing a Fez and smoking the cigar of late nineteenth century. 
 
Very finely carved, the hinge is in perfect working condition, the clear patina is splendid and bright and the eyes in sulphide gives it an undeniable personality and presence.
 
A pipe is provided to replace the cigar if you wish.
 
Typical of the so-called «black forest» productions, this artisanal know-how is actually Swiss and exists since the 18th century.
