This piece of furniture is part of the Japonism movement, which developed in Europe at the end of the 19th century, particularly after the opening of Japan during the Meiji era and with the Universal exhibitions. Many companies, such as Perret and Vibert, have broadcasted this oriental art through their production of furniture.
