Black Forest. Fox and hare bookends. Characteristic of the Black Forest style, this art of woodcarving experienced a remarkable boom with the development of tourism during the Victorian era. The villages of Brienz, Interlaken, and Lucerne were home to the most renowned carvers at that time.
