TRAVEL BOX / CANDLE Japan, probably 20th century, Taisho period It consists of a rectangular covered box lacquered in black and decorated with gold (Maki-e).
Lid decorated with a chrysanthemum or peony flower kamon. There are 2 Mon on the front.
It opens with two drawers of different depths on the front and a top cover revealing two compartments.
One of the compartments contains, on the one hand, a metal box whose lid turns over to reveal a candle holder representing a chrysanthemum with 18 petals, and on the other hand a compartment with a perforated lid.
The other compartment is larger and contains 2 candles.
