A circular plate in fine earthenware with a white tin-glaze, featuring a polychrome decoration in the style of Chinese porcelain. The centre is adorned with a lakeside landscape featuring a figure, a pavilion or temple, a sailing ship and a rich floral design. The rim features alternating red and blue latticework panels, punctuated by stylised motifs, flowers and decorative medallions.
The colour scheme combines cobalt blue, copper red and orange-brown highlights, characteristic of Delft’s polychrome decoration.
The reverse bears the painted mark ‘PAK’, attributed to Pieter Adriaensz. Kocks, owner and director of the De Grieksche A factory in Delft. This factory is particularly renowned for its polychrome earthenware and its Chinese-inspired designs, sometimes referred to as ‘gilded Delft’.
